Police Make Arrest In University City Murder Case
Charlotte police charged Yacouba Meite, 25, with the murder of Javon Daniel Alim Sherwood, who was gunned down Saturday near UNCC.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have arrested a man they say is responsible for the murder of a 22-year-old man shot to death in a north Charlotte apartment near the University of North Carolina-Charlotte campus over the weekend.
Shortly after 7 p.m. on Dec. 1, police responded to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon in the 8700 block of Autumn Lake Court in the Belle Haven Apartment complex. When officers arrived, however, they discovered Javon Daniel Alim Sherwood, 22, in the parking lot with gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.

Wednesday afternoon, the suspect alleged to be behind Sherwood’s death was identified as Yacouba Meite, 25, who has been charged with his murder, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. He was also charged with felonious restraint and a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.
