A midday police operation in north Charlotte Tuesday led to 67 citations, including 33 for failing to buckle up.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Holiday travel is going to peak on roadways and in the air this week, which means you can expect to see more local law enforcement officers throughout the community. Police in Charlotte got a head start on their safety enforcement today in north Charlotte, where they held a daytime seat belt operation.
The checkpoint, held at the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Sunset Road between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., nabbed 67 citations and one arrest, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Citations included not only seat belt violations, but also texting and driving violations. Not all citations were for drivers, either. CMPD gave warning tickets to two pedestrians for failing to use the crosswalk.
