Police Searching For Burglary Suspect Who Cut Off Monitor

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police are asking for the public’s help locating a suspect awaiting trial for burglary related charges after he cut off his court-ordered electronic monitor Tuesday.

According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report, Xaviar Lamonte Cannie, 21, is wanted for felony attempted breaking and entering of a building and possession of burglary tools. He now also faces charges of damage to property and interfering with an electronic monitoring device.

Cannie was court-ordered to wear the monitoring device as a condition of his pretrial release. He removed the device July 2 and was last known to be in the area of 2521 Alleghany Street in Charlotte, police said.

Cannie is described as 5-foot, 9-inches tall and 200 pounds.

CMPD said anyone with information on his whereabouts should immediately contact the Electronic Monitoring Unit at 704-432-8888, option #3 or call 911.
