Police Searching For Man Wanted For Assault With Deadly Weapon

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police are asking for the community’s help locating a man wanted on a list of charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after he cut off his court-ordered electronic monitor New Year’s Eve.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Luther Avery Lawrence, 54, was ordered to wear the device as a condition of his pretrial release. In addition to the assault with a deadly weapon charge, he is also wanted for three counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a felon. He now also faces charges of damage to property and interfering with an electronic monitoring device, CMPD said.

Lawrence was last known to be in the area of 8300 Paces Oaks Boulevard in Charlotte. He is described as 5-foot, 11-inches tall, and weighs 200 pounds.

CMPD said that anyone with information on Lawrence’s whereabouts should immediately contact the Electronic Monitoring Unit at 704-432-8888, option #3 or call 911.
