Police Seek Leads In Deadly Charlotte Hit-And-Run

The 35-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, police said.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened just after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.

In a news release, the department said the crash happened in the 7300 block of University City Boulevard. Officers were patrolling the area when they happened across 35-year-old Aaron Jenson Lyle lying in the roadway at 4:35 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

Police said it is believed that Lyle was walking on the westbound side of the roadway from N. Tryon Street toward I-85 when he was struck by a silver Infinity G-35 or G-37. The vehicle is believed to be between a 2009 and a 2011 model.

The vehicle had a plate or temporary tag in the rear window. Investigators said, as a result of the crash, the car will be missing the lower front right bumper or air dam below the right headlight. It could also have windshield damage.
