- "A 17-year-old was shot Wednesday afternoon in east Charlotte. ... It happened shortly before 3 p.m. along Lanza Drive near Robinson Church Road. The shooting victim was taken to Atrium CMC with life-threatening injuries MEDIC said. The teen was in stable condition at the hospital," WSOC-TV reports. (WSOC-TV)
- "There’s a great need for tutors in the Charlotte region. Community groups and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are now coming together through a new collaborative called Tutor Charlotte to look for volunteer tutors in math and reading. Tutor Charlotte — which includes Augustine Literacy Project Charlotte, the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Heart Math Tutoring, Helps Education Fund,and Read Charlotte — is looking for 800 tutors," WCNC reports. - "Charlotte Community ToolBank is bringing back its popular Tool Rush sale this weekend. Tool Rush went away during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the popular sales event is making its return to South End this weekend. The Charlotte Community ToolBank will be selling new and gently used tools at deep discounts. The event is open to the public from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Charlotte Community ToolBank," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "A security guard working at a Mecklenburg County building shot another guard overnight on Wednesday. ... Officials say two contract security guards working at the Valerie C. Woodard Center on Freedom Drive were involved in an incident overnight and a gun was fired by one of the guards. The guard shot was injured and both were immediately removed from the property and will no longer work on the county contract," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
