Rain, Chance Of More Fog Ahead For Charlotte: Weekend Forecast

More fog is expected to roll in early Thursday morning ahead of a weekend dotted with rain showers, according to forecasters.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The greater Charlotte-metro region awoke to areas of frozen fog Wednesday morning, and there may be more of the same on the way for tomorrow’s morning commute, according to forecasters.

The morning fog is expected to fully lift by 10 a.m. Wednesday, and more patchy fog is expected overnight and into early Thursday morning, the National Weather Service said.

The chance of rain moves into the Charlotte-metro and Lake Norman region Thursday afternoon, into the evening. Friday is expected to be clear, however, more rain is expected by Saturday afternoon, NWS said. Rain is a near sure thing by Saturday evening, stretching into Sunday morning.

Conditions are set to clear up Sunday, however Sunday night is set to be cold, with an overnight low in the low 20s. Monday, which many have off in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day, will likely be sunny and brisk, with a high near 40 degrees.

Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 54. Light west southwest wind.
Tonight
Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 34. Light and variable wind.
Thursday (Jan. 17)
A 20 percent chance of showers after 3pm. Patchy fog between 7am and 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 52. Light and variable wind becoming east northeast around 5 mph in the morning.
Thursday Night
A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. South wind 5 to 7 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
