Security Increased At NC School After Racist Video Goes Viral
The students, who attend Northwest Guilford High School near Greensboro, have been disciplined, school officials said.

GREENSBORO, NC — A video of two North Carolina high school students ranting about lynching African Americans and repeatedly using racist language, including the n-word, has gone viral online, forcing school officials to publicly address their behavior.
The 45-second clip of the Northwest Guilford High School students’ rant landed on Twitter earlier this week. According to Yahoo News, the clip, which was posted by a former student attempting to draw attention to the racist behavior, was viewed more than 44,000 times and shared more than 1,000 times on social media before it was removed by Facebook.
“Guilford County Schools does not tolerate racist behavior,” the school district said Tuesday in a statement on Twitter. “Appropriate action has been taken to discipline the students involved. We’re working to reinforce our district’s core values, which include diversity and equity, as well as empathy and integrity.”

The school district is instituting training for staff and students through its diversity office and the National Conference for Community and Justice, The Charlotte Observer reported.
Following the video’s release, threatening messages were posted online about potential gun violence aimed at the school, according to reports. Deputies from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office were on the school’s campus to increase security and investigating Wednesday, after a message saying, “Ima give you some advise [sic] and transfer bc its ganna [sic] get shot up im not doing it but i know the people that are going to,” was found on Snapchat, WFMY reported.
