Seven CMS Students Named National Merit Scholars
Seven students from four Charlotte-area high schools are National Merit Scholarship winners.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Seven Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students representing four high schools have won National Merit Scholarships, the school district announced Wednesday.
The students from Ardrey Kell High, Providence High, East Meck High and Levine Middle College High were chosen from more than 15,000 finalists in the U.S., each winning $2,500 scholarships sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
The scholarship competition for this year’s winners began in October 2015, when 1.6 million took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as juniors. In the Fall of 2016, semifinalists were announced based upon test scores.
