Shoot Out Reported In East Charlotte Food Lion Parking Lot

Two men had a shoot-out in an east Charlotte Food Lion parking lot Wednesday morning.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Two men shot at each other’s vehicles in a Food Lion parking lot in east Charlotte Wednesday morning, damaging at least one car before fleeing the scene.

The dramatic exchange of fire was caught on camera, prompting Charlotte-Mecklenburg police to circulate images and ask for the public’s help in identifying the shooters.

CMPD was called to the Food Lion at 7004 East W.T. Harris Boulevard just before 11:30 a.m. Aug. 2 after several reports were made that shots were fired. Based on those statements, CMPD said “an unknown occupant in a dark colored sedan (possibly a Toyota Camry) fired rounds at another dark colored vehicle (possibly a Volkswagen Passat).”

A man wearing a red shirt returned fire before both fled the scene in their cars, CMPD said.

No one was reported injured at the scene and CMPD detectives are canvassing area hospitals for possible victims related to this shooting. One vehicle was reported damaged from a ricochet bullet.
