Shooting At Neighborhood Pool Leaves One Dead In Charlotte

Charlotte police are investigating after a shooting at a neighborhood pool in southeast Charlotte left one person dead.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have launched a homicide investigation after a shooting at a neighborhood pool in southeast Charlotte left a man dead.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department received a 911 call about the assault with a deadly weapon at the pool in the 9200 block of Clifton Meadow Drive shortly before 7:30 p.m. June 19.

The caller told police that the male victim had left in a vehicle driven by another person. Minutes later, police received a 911 call from staff at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center to report a male gunshot victim had arrived at the hospital.

“A short time later the victim was pronounced deceased,” CMPD said in a statement.

Detectives canvassed the area around the pool in search of witnesses and say the case is an ongoing, active investigation. CMPD said anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a homicide unit detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
