Shots Fired, Man Killed As Police At Nearby Crime Scene
Someone shot into a house in south Charlotte Sunday night. When CMPD officers arrived, more shots rang out.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A homicide investigation is underway after an 18-year-old male was shot and killed late Sunday night in south Charlotte.
Terale Claridy-Vaught, 18, was found by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers lying in the roadway of Carolina Forest Court in south Charlotte shortly after 10:30 p.m. June 3. The officers were already in the area responding to an earlier report that a suspect had fired shots into a home in the 14400 block of the same street, according to a CMPD report.
“As officers were on scene, shots were fired nearby,” the report said.

Claridy-Vaught was pronounced dead on the scene.

Following the gunfire, CMPD’s SWAT Team deployed and set up a perimeter to search for the shooting suspect. Other CMPD units, such as its K9 and aviation units, were also brought in as part of the initial canvassing of the crime scene.
