Snow Prompts Early School Closing For Charlotte Area Schools
A winter weather advisory is in effect for the greater Charlotte metro and all CMS schools are dismissing early Thursday.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will dismiss students early Thursday as the region prepares for snow. A winter weather advisory is in effect for the greater Charlotte metro region from 10 a.m. Thursday until midnight, according to the National Weather Service.
The region is expected to get 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation Thursday and road conditions are expected to deteriorate throughout the day, NWS said. “Roads will initially be warm and wet, but with slippery conditions developing as temperatures fall through the day. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.”
By Friday morning, road conditions are expected to be treacherous, as overnight temperatures are expected to dip into the 20s, leading to black ice, it said.
