South Meck High Student Brought Loaded Gun To School: Report

A 14-year-old student was charged Tuesday after bringing a loaded gun to South Mecklenburg High School, according to reports.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have charged a South Mecklenburg High School student after they brought a loaded gun to school, according to reports.

Police believe the 14-year-old student may have brought the weapon for protection, WSOC reported.

In a message to parents, Principal Maureen Furr said that once the firearm was located, it was immediately turned over to the school resource officer and that there is no indication that a threat was made. The school day was not disrupted by the incident.
