Strong Storms Moving Through The Area, Tornado Watch In Effect

Strong storms are moving into the Charlotte area.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Southern Mecklenburg County this afternoon with a tornado warning in effect until the evening.

At 4 p.m., the line of severe storms was moving through the Charlotte area at 55 miles per hour, with wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour, the weather service said.
