Strong Thunderstorms, High Winds Possible Wednesday, NWS Warns

Strong thunderstorms in the Charlotte metro region could potentially lead to localized flooding in some areas, NWS said.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the Charlotte metro region could potentially lead to localized flooding in some areas, the National Weather Service warned Wednesday.

“Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. Any thunderstorm that develops will be capable of producing strong gusty winds, brief heavy rainfall, and cloud to ground lightning,” NWS said in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin Wednesday morning.

Isolated severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, localized flooding and flash flooding will also become a threat in areas where rain persists, it said.
