Student Shot At Area High School Has Died: Report
A student shot at Butler High School Monday morning has died, according to reports. Another student was taken into custody.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A student shot at Butler High School Monday morning, reportedly by another student later taken into custody, has died, according to a report.
The Matthews high school was put on lockdown earlier in the day while law enforcement conducted an investigation.
“We have responded to a shooting at Butler High School this morning,” Matthews Police Department confirmed on their Facebook page. “There is one student that has been shot that was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries at this time. Another student has been taken into custody.”

By the time the victim reached an area hospital, they were in critical condition and were rushed to surgery, WSOC reported.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident and the scene has now been secured by police. Information on releasing students to their parents will be coming soon,” MPD said.
Around 9:30 a.m., the school lockdown was lifted, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools said in a statement. “The campus has been secured; no immediate danger exists,” it said.
