Thanksgiving 2018: What's Open, Closed in Charlotte, Mecklenburg

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Thanksgiving Day is considered a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and many businesses will take a break for the holiday.

City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County government offices will be closed for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23.

Town of Huntersville: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Town of Cornelius: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Town of Davidson: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Here are the openings and closings to be aware of this Thanksgiving holiday:

U.S. Post Office: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22

State Offices: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Charlotte City Offices: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Mecklenburg County Offices: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Schools and Administrative Offices: Closed

Libraries: All Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branches will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.

Department of Social Services: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23. The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).

Tax Office: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Elections Office: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Register of Deeds Office: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Land Use and Environmental Services Agency: Closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23

Health Department: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23
Trash and Recycling: Charlotte Solid Waste services will not collect on Thursday, Nov. 22 and will operate on a one-day delay.

Park and Recreation: Park and Recreation administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, November 23, 2018. Recreation Centers, Senior Centers and Grayson Skate Park will be closed on Thursday, November 22 and Friday, Nov. 23.

Recreation Centers, Senior Centers will close at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve, Nov. 21, 2018.

Nature Centers: Closed on Nov. 22 and open normal hours on Friday, Nov. 23.

CharMeck 311: open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
