These North Carolina Vacations Are Among The Best In US

U.S. News & World Report released its annual ranking of the best vacations in the U.S. and the world. Here's the NC spots that made the cut.

U.S. News & World Report has ranked the best places to go on vacation in the United States and two North Carolina destinations made the list.

The annual list from the publication ranks vacations in a number of categories including the best places to visit in the U.S., best cheap vacations in the U.S., best U.S. national parks, best small towns to visit in the U.S. and best historical cities to visit in the U.S. Top vacation destinations around the world are also ranked by U.S. News.

The North Carolina destinations ranked by U.S. News were in the β€œBest Places to Visit in the USA” and β€œBest Cheap Vacations in the U.S.” categories.

  • Outer Banks

Best Cheap Vacations in the U.S.:

  • Nags Head

Among the top places to visit in the U.S., four of the top five spots were taken by national parks.

β€œThis year we saw an unmistakable travel trend: More people are interested in spending their hard-earned vacation days outdoors,” Christine Smith, travel editor at U.S. News, said in a press release. β€œAlthough travel trends and the appeal of various vacation destinations are always changing, the U.S. News Best Vacations lists feature a mix of destinations so travelers can find the right vacation for them, regardless of interests and budget.”

According to U.S. News, the top 10 places to visit in the U.S are:

  • Grand Canyon
  • Yosemite
  • Yellowstone
  • Maui
  • Glacier National Park
  • New York City
  • San Francisco
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Honolulu-Oahu
  • Telluride
