Thunderstorms, Heavy Rainfall Possible In Charlotte

Heavy rain once again creeps back into the afternoon forecast, with strong pop-up storms becoming a possibility Wednesday.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall could move through the Charlotte metro region Wednesday afternoon and early evening, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS issued a hazardous weather bulletin for the piedmont of North Carolina Aug. 29, saying the main threats to the region would be from locally heavy rainfall and cloud-to-ground lightning.

While the chance of rain has crept back into the forecast, it will likely clear out iby Sunday, just in time for Labor Day, NWS said. If you have Monday, Sept. 3 off, start planning something outside to take advantage of the mild weather. The daily high is expected to be around 89 with plenty of sunshine to mark the unofficial end of summer.
