Tip Helps CMPD Nab Wanted Armed Robbery Suspect

Charlotte police say an anonymous tip helped them catch Altadarius Flowe, who has been charged with five armed robberies.

CHARLOTTE, NC — An anonymous tip from the community helped police nab a suspect wanted for a string of armed robberies around Charlotte, police said Wednesday.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s armed robbery unit and violent criminal apprehension team arrested Altadarius Flowe, 24, June 6, and charge him with five counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. The arrest comes two days after CMPD asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspect who robbed numerous Queen City businesses over the weekend.

The tip came in to police through Crime Stoppers after someone recognized Flowe from released security camera photos released by CMPD.

Flowe is believed to be behind numerous armed robberies CMPD said June 4, including:
  • Thursday, May 31 — The suspect entered a Speedway gas station at 10207 North Tryon Street shortly before 10 p.m. and robbed the business at gunpoint
  • Friday, June 1 — The suspect entered R&K Express, located at 8712 Pence Road, shortly after noon and pulled out a gun and demanded cash from the register. He fled the scene without any property, according to CMPD.
  • Sunday, June 3 — The suspect entered a Circle K store located at 1246 East Boulevard shortly before 6 a.m. and robbed it at gunpoint.
  • Sunday, June 3 — Shortly before 8 a.m., the suspect robbed a 7-Eleven located at 1901 Pavilion Boulevard when he made a purchase and reached over the counter and grabbed cash out the register.
  • Sunday, June 3 — Around 1:30 p.m., the suspect robbed the third business of they day when he entered a Domino's located at 4755 South Boulevard, pulled a gun and demanded cash from the register.
  • Sunday, June 3 — About two hours later, around 3:20 p.m., the suspect pulled out a gun in a Dollar General store, located at 5200 Albemarle Road and took money from the register.

"During the investigations, Armed Robbery Detectives determined that the same suspect was responsible for these robberies," CMPD said in a statement Monday.
