Tip Leads To Arrest Of Hookah Bar Stabbing Suspect

A Crime Stopper tip led to the arrest of a suspect police say is behind the March stabbing of five at a North Charlotte hookah bar.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte Police found and arrested the man they say is responsible for stabbing five in March during a fight at a University-area hookah bar as he boarded a flight leaving town THursday.

Aldon George Lawrence, 26, was arrested and charged for the March 19 stabbing at Red @ 28th Hookah Lounge after CMPD investigators received a tip through Crime Stoppers, which along with additional information, confirmed his responsibility in the incident, CMPD said.

Lawrence was found by Investigators July 6 after he boarded a flight at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport Thursday. The March 19 attack at the Red @ 28th hookah bar at 9539 Pinnacle Dr., when a fight inside the bar spilled out into the parking lot, where shots were fired. Two of the five victims had life threatening injuries, police said at the time.

Lawrence has been charged with one count of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
