Triple Overnight Shooting Leaves Two Teens Dead: CMPD

Police said the three victims were shot in a vehicle on Grandin Road, west of Uptown. Two victims were later pronounced dead.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A homicide investigation is underway in Charlotte Thursday after a triple shooting near Morehead Street left two teenage victims dead and male victim hospitalized with gunshot wounds, according to police.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to the scene after a call about an assault with a deadly weapon shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, where they found a male victim who had been shot in the parking lot of Uptown Cycles, located at 1432 West Morehead Street. Two blocks away, officers found two additional gunshot victims in a vehicle parked in the 600 block of Grandin Road.

Medic transported all three victims to an area hospital, however two were later pronounced dead by hospital staff, police said. Police identified the deceased victims as Ibn Marshall, 17, and Anu’bius Smith, 18, and said their next of kin were notified of their deaths.

According to police, an initial investigation suggests all three victims were shot in the vehicle found on Grandin Road, and that one victim ran to the parking lot down the street. CMPD also said officers found two firearms and marijuana at the crime scene.
