Two Homicide Investigations Underway Following Separate Shootings

Two men were shot and killed in separate incidents in Charlotte Monday, as police say homicide investigations are underway.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Two men are dead and one victim left injured following two separate and fatal shootings in Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

According to a police report, officers responded to a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon shortly before 6 p.m. in the 2700 block of Tuckaseegee Road.

"When they arrived, they located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound inside a business on Tuckaseegee Road" CMPD said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers also found a second gunshot victim inside the business, who was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Hours later, shortly before midnight, police received a report of a shooting near the 9100 block of Trinity Road, where responding officers found a man who had been shot.

The victim, who was later identified as Channing Liston Byers, 34, who was pronounced dead at the scene, CMPD said.
