Two Shot Near East Charlotte High School: Report
Shots were fired near Commonwealth High School Friday morning, prompting the school to go into lockdown.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Two male victims shot near Commonwealth High School in east Charlotte Friday morning have life threatening injuries, Charlotte police confirmed.
According to reports, they were students.
The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the 5100 block of Central Avenue, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. Winterfield Elementary was put on lockdown as a precaution, but was lifted soon afterward, CMPD said.

A WSOC reporter said the victims had life threatening injuries.
Commonwealth High School is located at 5112 Central Avenue. A source told a Fox46 reporter that the victims attended the school.

CMPD's investigation into the incident remains ongoing and police said anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
