Tyson Chicken Strips Recalled In NC Due To Metal Hazard

Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling about 69,093 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strips that may have been contaminated with pieces of metal. The products were shipped to stores nationwide, and people in North Carolina who may have bought them should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund, the USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service said.

The various varieties of chicken strips subject to the recall were also distributed in bulk for institutional use in Michigan and Wisconsin.

The USDA agency said the problem was discovered after two consumers complained they had found metal in their chicken strips. No one has been sickened or injured, but consumers who are concerned about adverse reactions should see a doctor, the agency said.

The products were produced by Rogers, Arkansas-based Tyson on Nov. 30, 2018. The USDA is concerned they may still be in some people’s freezers. The products subject to the recall are:

• 25-ounce plastic bags of frozen “Tyson Fully Cooked Buffalo Style Chicken Strips, Chicken Breast Strip Fritters With Rib Meat And Buffalo Style Sauce” with a best-if-used-by date of Nov. 30, 2919; case codes 3348CNQ0317 and 3348CNQ0318, and individual bag timestamps from 17:00 through 18:59 hours (inclusive).

• 25-ounce plastic bags of frozen “Tyson Fully Cooked Chicken Strips, Chicken Breast Strip Fritters With Rib Meat” with a best-if-used-by date of Nov. 30, 2019; case codes 3348CNQ0419, 3348CNQ0420, 3348CNQ0421, and 3348CNQ0422, and individual bag timestamps from 19:00 through 22:59 hours (inclusive);

• 20-pound cases of frozen “Spare Time Fully Cooked Buffalo Style Chicken Strips, Chicken Breast Strip Fritters With Rib Meat And Buffalo Style Sauce” with a best-if-used-by date of Nov. 30, 2019; case code 3348CNQ03.

The recalled products all bear the establishment number P-7221” on the back of the product package.
