U.S. News Ranks These NC Grad Schools For 2019

U.S. News & World Report released its rankings of best graduate schools for 2019. See which NC schools are on the list.

U.S. News & World Report released its rankings of best graduate schools in the country for 2019, and several North Carolina graduate schools ranked high across the disciplines evaluated by the publication.

The six major disciplines U.S. News looked at were: business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing. In each category, a North Carolina school ranked among the top 100 schools in each category.

“Prospective students can choose from a range of options to continue their education,” Anita Narayan, managing editor of education at U.S. News, said in a press release. “The graduate school rankings and data are a great starting point for applicants to find the program that’s the best fit for them academically and financially.”

As U.S. News explains, certain professions like law and medicine require a graduate level credential and in other fields it may not be required but makes a person more marketable.

To determine the rankings, U.S. News used expert opinions and statistical indicators. In the fall of 2017 and in early 2018, U.S. News conducted surveys of over 2000 programs and reputation surveys sent to academics and professionals. Statistical indicators varied based on discipline and U.S. News used both input and output measures. For example, in the business category, starting salary was an output measure while GMAT score was an input measure. (You can read more about the methodology here.)
