This Is The Ugliest Building In North Carolina: Report

The pick for North Carolina may surprise you, especially given its association with a nationally revered architectural gem.

ASHEVILLE, NC β€”A new Business Insider report looks at the good, the bad and the ugly in terms of buildings around the U.S. Well, maybe just the ugly.

The publication asked readers to name the ugliest buildings in each state and Washington, DC. "Every town across the United States likely has a tower, a government complex, or an office building that residents wish never went up," states Business Insider.

The readers' picks ranges from a giant picnic basket serving as a business headquarters to some well-known landmarks like Madison Square Garden, Boston City Hall and The Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle.

For North Carolina, it's none other than the Biltmore Building in Asheville, which houses the corporate offices of the Biltmore Estate. The seven-story low-rise modernist building’s mirrored window pattern was designed to reflect the nearby Jackson building, according to Emporis.

Other regional buildings on the list included the US Census Bureau in Suitland, Md. and the Watergate Complex in DC, which one reader called "Washington, DC's white whale."
