UNC’s Luke Maye Walks Away From I-85 Accident After Car Flips Several Times
The star Tar Heel player was on his way home to Huntersville when his car flipped several times on I-85.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- UNC basketball stand-out player Luke Maye walked away from a horrific accident on Interstate 85 Thursday where his car flipped several times, according to reports.
Maye, who is a Huntersville native and was en route to his younger brother’s middle school graduation at the time of the, walked away from the accident with minor injuries, his parents told The Charlotte Observer.
“He did run into an 18-wheeler and spun his car around, landing on a bank beside the road,” Mark Maye, Luke’s father, told the newspaper in a text message. “Damaged the car pretty bad, but he (Luke) said he feels perfectly fine.”

According to the report, Maye not only made it to his brother’s graduation the evening of June 8, but also participated in the graduation ceremony at Huntersville Elementary Friday morning.
Maye became an instant North Carolina basketball hero when he made a show-stopping basket in the final seconds of UNC’s NCAA tournament game against Kentucky earlier this year. He is a rising junior at the school.
