Bullets Hit UNCC Building In Uptown In Morning Shooting: CMPD
University of North Carolina Charlotte's Center City Building was placed on lockdown Thursday after shots were fired in the area.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Bullets hit several windows at University of North Carolina Charlotte’s Center City building in uptown Charlotte Thursday morning in a shooting that led to a building lockdown, according to police.
Shots were fired near the building located at 320 E. 9th Street around 9 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a statement. Witnesses told responding officers that they heard the gunfire from the intersection of North Brevard and East 9th Streets, which is adjacent to the building.
“Shots fired in vicinity. Avoid area until further notice. CMPD is on scene investigating,” UNCC said in an emergency broadcast message.

No one was reported injured in the shooting, however, CMPD said that following the shooting, an adult male went to the emergency room of Atrium Health Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. CMPD detectives are investigating “to determine his involvement with this case,” police said.
