  1. A man ran over a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer on July 8 during a pursuit that led into York County. He was arrested after chase ended. According to WBTV, "Officers responded to a stolen vehicle call around 2:30 p.m. at 100 Red Roof Drive...While approaching the vehicle, 22-year-old Bryan Calderon drove off, striking one officer, knocking him to the ground and running over his legs."   2. Uptown Charlotte will be the setting for Susan G. Komen's "More Than Pink Walk" this fall. According to WCNC, "the walk will replace the annual Race for the Cure event and will be held on Mint Street outside of Bank of America Stadium on Oct. 8. This will be Komen's first in-person Walk event in Charlotte since 2019."(WCNC.com)
  3. On a whim, a retired Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police detective bought a lottery ticket at a convenience store that said he could win $1 million and he hit the jackpot! Costa "Rick" Walton of Mint Hill who won the lottery, said, "It's one of the happiest days!" (Officer)
  4. Bradley Bozeman and his wife Nikki are on a mission to leave their mark on Charlotte. According to Panthers.com, they are looking to "connect with as many locals as they can meet to get a sense of how they can make a difference through their charitable work with The Bradley & Nikki Bozeman Foundation. Through their foundation, the Bozemans took on food insecurity at their previous stop in Baltimore and embarked on anti-bullying campaigns in schools across the country, among other charitable endeavors."   5. If you want to appreciate nature and still enjoy modern comforts, consider "glamping" otherwise known as "luxury camping." According to The Travel, "There several luxury campsites throughout the US but also some of the best glamping with limitless adventure is located just outside of Charlotte, NC. This means chic explorers can soak up the majestic sight of North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains and bask in the greenery of Nantahala National Forest while enjoying 5-star lavish camping accommodations."   6. According to WDBJ, "A car flipped over an embankment before 12 a.m. Monday in the area of Brookshire Boulevard and Fred Alexander Boulevard. It took a large tow truck to lift the car back up onto the road." Four people involved in this crash were taken to the hospital. (WDBJ)
