Veterans Day 2017: Closings In Charlotte, Mecklenburg County
Veterans Day falls on a Saturday, but some city services will change hours to observe the holiday the day before.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Veterans Day (Nov. 11) falls on a Saturday this year, but some services in Mecklenburg will observe the holiday on Friday. Many in the region will head to work anyway, but schools, government offices and other services will take a break for the holiday.
City of Charlotte government offices will be closed for Veterans Day, as well as libraries and schools, while CATS and trash collection will operate on a regular schedule.
Here are the openings/closings to be aware of on Friday, Nov. 10:

City Offices: Closed
Mecklenburg County Government Offices: Closed

Schools and Administrative Offices: Closed
CATS: All Charlotte Area Transit System buses, trains and streetcars will operate on a normal schedule on Friday, Nov. 10. CATS Pass Sales, Information Office and Call Center will be closed.
Trash and Recycling: Solid Waste Services will operate on a normal collection schedule. All Solid Waste administrative offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10. All Solid Waste Drop Off Centers will be open on Friday, Nov. 10
CharMeck 311: open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Libraries: All branches of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library system will be closed Friday, Nov. 10.
Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center: open, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Department of Social Services Care Line: (704-336-CARE or 704-336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children, the elderly or disabled adults.
Mecklenburg County Health Department: Closed on Friday, Nov. 10.
Park and Recreation: Administrative offices, Recreation and Senior Centers will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10. Nature Centers will operate on a normal schedule.
- The Marion Diehl Pool and Recreation Center will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The splash park inside Ray’s Splash Planet is temporarily closed for scheduled maintenance.
- The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will be open 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
- Grayson SkatePark and the Naomi Drenan Center will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017.
