WATCH: Man Unwraps Holiday Message Along With Coffee, Keys

A Charlotte church's holiday video message of gratitude went viral and is still going strong almost a year later.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Imagine facing a new day with the joy of unwrapping yourself from sleep, then freeing your spouse from a festive cocoon of holiday wrapping paper, right before you discovered -- with glee -- that you have electricity and running water in the bathroom. At every point along the way during what would be an ordinary morning slog to get out the door, keys, coffee, even a plate of breakfast are festooned with tinsel.

It’s a powerful message as we wrap up a year marked by sweeping natural disasters that have upended communities from Texas to the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, where about 70 percent of the island is still without power almost two months after the island was slammed by Hurricane Maria Sept. 20.

“This Christmas, may you be grateful for all the gifts around you!” says the video, produced by Forest Hill church in Charlotte. The video, which was produced by the church in December 2016, quickly went viral, racking up more than 4 million views last holiday season. It’s still going strong, and today has almost 5.5 million views.
