CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools are out for Spring Break next week, and Easter Sunday is just around the corner. Just like a grassy park dotted with specks of colored eggs, Charlotte has heaps of fun family activities and events to ring in Easter just waiting to be found starting this weekend.

Three egg hunts will run at 9am and 11am. $3 donation requested for Wendy's Wonderful Kids Foundation. Registration runs 8-8:45am.

14825 Ballantyne Village Way.

1-3pm. Free. Visit with the Easter Bunny and live bunnies, and make crafts and get your face painted.

Stowe Park, 24 S. Main St., Belmont and Linwood Park, Caston St., Belmont.

10 and under. Free. 704-825-8191. Bring the family for an egg hunt and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Birkdale Village, 8712 Lindholm Drive, Huntersville.

11am-3pm. Free photos with the Easter Bunny, crafts, family-friendly activities, and the chance to win a variety of prizes.

The Speedpark at Concord Mills Mall, 8461 Concord Mills Blvd., Concord.

10am. Free. Thousands of eggs, golden eggs, prizes, free admission, and more.

Historic Rosedale Plantation, 3427 N. Tryon St.

10 and 11am, and noon. $10 per child; two adults per family free. 704-335-0325. Explore the enchanting gardens as you and your child hunts for Easter eggs. Reservations required.

Chestnut Square Park, 320 Chestnut Pkwy., Indian Trail.

10am-2pm. Free.

Children ages 12 and younger can participate in the annual Easter Egg hunt. Registration not required.

Weekends of April 8-9, 15-16

North Carolina Transportation Museum, 411 S. Salisbury Ave., Spencer.

Take a 25-minute train ride around the museum with the Easter Bunny, take part in photos, and receive a take-home craft and candy. Tickets start at $8. See website for times. Egg hunt on April 15 only.

Saturdays April 8, April 15

Lazy 5 Ranch, 15100 Mooresville Road, Mooresville.

Sunday, April 9

Wednesday, April 12

Thursday, April 13

New Centre Park, 501 Memorial Drive, Clover.

Ages 11 and under. 6pm. Free. 803-222-9493. A community Easter egg hunt for children.

Harrisburg Park, 191 Sims Pkwy., Harrisburg.

Ages 13 and under. 6pm. Free. 704-455-5614. Scramble to collect 25,000 eggs off the field, plus crafts and inflatables. The first scramble begins at 6:30pm. The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance, so bring your camera. Rain or shine.

Cherry Park, 1466 Cherry Road, Rock Hill.

Ages 2-11 years. 3:30-5:30pm. Free. An egg hunt featuring more than 50,000 eggs and thousands of prizes.

Ray’s Splash Planet, 215 N. Sycamore St.

Ages 12 and under. 6-9pm. $5 per sperson. 704-314-4720. Jump in and explore the water to find as many Easter eggs as possible. Bring a (waterproof) basket and your bathing suit, towel and camera. Games and craft activities included.

Friday, April 14

The Schiele Museum of Natural History, 1500 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia.

11am-4pm. $3. 704-854-6676. Visit with farm animal babies and then participate in one of eight egg hunts throughout the museum. Advance tickets suggested.

Weekend of April 14-15

Hodges Farm, 3900 Rocky River Road E.

Saturday, April 15

NASCAR Hall of Fame, 400 E. MLK Jr. Blvd.

8-11am. $8-$18; Rookie Racers receive free general admission. 704-654-4400. Mr. Nigel will host pre-hunt activities such as a bean bag toss, egg roll contest, a bunny petting zoo, and face painting, and the Easter Parade leading up to the hunts begins at 10am. A showing of "Ice Age: The Great Egg-Scapade" will follow.
