- Ice skating and snow tubing will take place on Truist Field this winter! "During the Light the Knights Festival, the Charlotte Knights will install a regulation-size ice rink and snow tubing hill in the outfield for all to enjoy this year. The event will also feature holiday lights, live entertainment, holiday treats, shopping, Santa and more, from Wednesday, Nov. 23, through Friday, Jan. 6," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- Do you want to buy a building? "The longtime 75-year-old Dairy Queen located on Wilkinson Boulevard in west Charlotte is for sale, according to online real estate site. The store is listed at $1.4 million. It is the longest-running ice cream franchise in Charlotte, according to the Landmarks Commission. According to the listing, the 1/2 acre site can be used for fast food, express oil change, auto detailing/car wash, etc.," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- "The Matthews Police Department arrested an Uber driver for sexual assault of a passenger. On Oct. 15 around 5:58 a.m., a female victim said she was traveling home in an Uber driven by Vicente Diaz-Gomez, 45, when he sexually assaulted her. Police responded to Novant-Matthews Hospital where the victim reported the assault. After investigating, officers identified Diaz-Gomez as the suspect and arrested him later that day," WBTV reports. - "A school bus driver, servicing Winterfield Elementary, claims a parent threw bleach in their face. ... According to school officials, nine students were on board at the time of the incident and were transported to another bus, " WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "With both abortions in North Carolina and the number of out-of-state clinic patients soaring after Roe v. Wade was struck down, judges should permit more trained health professionals to prescribe pills for medication-induced abortions, plaintiffs in a lawsuit wrote on Monday. ... Allowing physician assistants, nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives who work at certified abortion clinics to prescribe these pills would immediately expand access to abortion in North Carolina. ... These “advanced practice clinicians” already can prescribe the same two medicines used in medication-induced abortions for managing a patient’s miscarriage," WFAE reports. (WFAE)
