CHARLOTTE, NC — In the wake of a winter storm that blanketed parts of western and central North Carolina with record snow over the weekend — the first snowfall for much of the season — it was a given Monday morning that the work week would not begin business as usual. Treacherous roads meant schools and businesses were closed for the day, leaving an entire day to fill.
