Woman Sexually Assaulted, Stabbed In Parking Lot Attack

The 32-year-old woman was stabbed in an apartment complex parking lot and police are asking for help finding her attacker.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A woman was sexually assaulted and stabbed in an early evening attack in a south Charlotte apartment complex parking lot, say police, who are asking for the public’s help finding her attacker.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to the apartment complex located in the 4900 block of Courtney Ridge Lane shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.

“When the officers arrived they located the 32 year-old female victim who had been sexually assaulted and suffering from knife wounds,” a CMPD report said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to an initial police account, the woman was standing next to her vehicle when she was attacked by an unknown man wearing dark clothing. His face was covered, police said.

Thursday the victim gave police more information, including that the suspect was a known acquaintance with whome she had a prior relationship.

The suspect sexually assaulted the victim, but when the victim attempted to fight back, he cut her with a knife and ran from the scene.

CMPD investigators with the K-9 unit attempted to track the suspect, but he was not located.

CMPD asks that anyone with information about this incident immediately call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or 911.
