- "For the first time in the program's short history, Charlotte women's golf will host its first-ever tournament with the Charlotte Invitational being held at the Cabarrus Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament is free and open to the public. Head Coach Ryan Ashburn said he is asking you to "cheer on your Niners at home for the first time ever. Your support means the world to us," Charlotte Athletics reports. (Charlotte Athletics)
- "Will Healy has been fired as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte head football coach after a dismal 1-7 start to the season, sources confirmed on Sunday. The latest 34-15 loss at home on homecoming to Florida International University (3-4) sealed Healy’s fate. Pete Rossomando has been named the interim head coach. Healy compiled an overall record of 14-19 in four seasons and at the time of his hiring was the second youngest head coach in Division I college football," WBTW reports. (WBTW)
- "The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide that took place in east Charlotte. Police responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday near Snow Lane. When officers arrived, a victim was discovered with one gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- Huge crowds are being drawn to the Rowan County farm to experience the pumpkin patch and corn maze. "Michelle Patterson, the director of fun at Patterson Farm, said agriculture is a big industry in Rowan County. The farm offers educational tours that let people see exactly where their food comes from. A team of around 70 people has been busy for weeks giving tours at the farm. Fall is their busiest time of year, and those seasonal activities are giving a big boost to the bottom line for the local economy," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "Two-thirds of a home was consumed in a fire on Friday night in west Charlotte. The fire happened in the 3600 block of Morris Field Drive, near Westerly Hills Park. ...
