• Police Seek Missing Teen Who Left In Family Member's Vehicle (jocoreport.com) — Clayton Police are urgently asking residents to help find 17-year-old Robert Allen Book III, who left his Clayton home Saturday in a black 2010 Kia Soul and hasn't contacted family since. Loved ones say this disappearance is highly unusual, and anyone who spots him or the car is urged to call Detective Budden at 919-437-6742.
• Summerfield man killed in crash on I-40 in North Carolina (myfox8.com) — A fatal single-car crash on I-40 near Clayton left a 61-year-old Summerfield man dead after his vehicle drifted across multiple lanes and hit a tree, possibly due to a medical emergency. State troopers say speed and alcohol were not factors, and the investigation into the Johnston County wreck continues.
• One Billion Minutes Watched of the 2026 Little League Softball® World Series, Presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods, Helps Inspire Next Generation of Girls with Game® (littleleague.org) — Clayton's Little League softball team reached the World Series championship game in Greenville, drawing more than a million TV viewers and putting the town's name on a national stage. The tournament set new viewership records and is being hailed as a major boost for girls' softball participation and visibility across North Carolina and beyond.
