• 'Scattered Steel' is the First Comprehensive Account of Public Art Made from Ground Zero Wreckage (architecturalrecord.com) — Cornelius is home to a 9/11 memorial built from World Trade Center steel, part of a nationwide effort to share Ground Zero artifacts with communities far from New York. A new book, "Scattered Steel," explores how pieces of the towers became public art and memorials, including the Cornelius installation oriented symbolically toward New York City.
• Linda Wilson Babcock (mountainmessenger.com) — Davidson resident Linda Wilson Babcock, 87, has passed away, leaving behind children in Unionville and Huntersville and a granddaughter living in Cornelius. Remembered for her deep Christian faith, love of family, and years of service in schools and churches, her life will be celebrated at a service in Lewisburg, West Virginia, on October 17.
