• Runnin' Bulldogs Battle Davidson to Scoreless Draw - Gardner-Webb University Athletics (gwusports.com) — Davidson's men's soccer team was held to a 0-0 draw at Gardner-Webb Friday night, despite outshooting the Runnin' Bulldogs and earning 12 corner kicks. Gardner-Webb played a man down from late in the first half but still frustrated multiple late Davidson chances, including several shots turned away in the final minutes.
   

• Bobbie Stallings Dodson (ourlocalcommunityonline.com) — Davidson readers may recognize the Dodson family, as Bobbie Stallings Dodson's son Alan and his spouse Drew live in town. Bobbie, remembered for her warmth and gift of conversation, passed away August 26 at age 89, with a simple family graveside service planned today in Spruce Pine and memorial gifts suggested for a wildlife center she loved.
