Durham church wants city's help curbing crime around its building (cbs17.com) — Members of a Durham church say rising crime around their building, including car break-ins and suspected drug activity near the R. Kelly Bryant Bridge and Durham Freeway trail, is making them afraid to attend services. The pastor is asking the city's parks and police departments to reroute the trail or increase patrols, hoping to restore a sense of safety for worshippers.

Her findings suggest plant choice matters more than layout, with narrow-leaf mountain mint emerging as a pollinator favorite. She hopes her work helps home gardeners and public landscapes better support bees across North Carolina.
   

5. Heavens To Betsy Unearths Lost '90s Demo Ahead Of Fall Tour (spinmagazine.com) — Legendary riot grrrl band Heavens to Betsy is releasing a newly unearthed early-'90s demo collection this fall and hitting the road again. Their reunion tour wraps up in Durham on Nov. 22 at Motorco Music Hall, giving local fans a rare chance to see Corin Tucker and Tracy Sawyer revisit their influential songs live.
