2. Dolly Day at American Tobacco Campus Sept. 25 - Triangle on the Cheap (triangleonthecheap.com) — Durham residents can celebrate Dolly Parton at a free Dolly Day event at the American Tobacco Campus on Friday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. under the water tower. Families are invited to wear Dolly-themed outfits, enjoy live music, games, trivia, giveaways, and a special $9.25 menu that will help support Dolly's Imagination Library.
3. Filipino Fall Fiesta in Durham Oct. 24 - Triangle on the Cheap (triangleonthecheap.com) — A Filipino Fall Fiesta is coming to the Durham Armory on Saturday, October 24, offering local families food, music, games, and cultural performances from noon to 5 p.m. Adults pay $5 while students with ID get in free, with raffle tickets included. Proceeds support a nonprofit focused on building sustainable communities in the Philippines.
4. Michelin-rated barbecue spot taking over the former Pit space in Durham (newsobserver.com) — Durham's Geer Street district is getting a major barbecue revival as Michelin-recommended Dampf Good BBQ prepares to take over the former Pit space this winter. The Texas-style spot plans a market-style service where diners order smoked meats by the pound and watch brisket and ribs sliced right in front of them, adding another high-profile option to the city's growing food scene.
5. First Bishop Dready Manning Music Scholarship awarded (rrdailyherald.com) — A Durham student, Aidan Brown, has been named the first recipient of the Bishop Dready Manning Music Scholarship after graduating from the School of Creative Studies and choosing to attend North Carolina Central University in Durham. His award recognizes strong academics, deep involvement in theater and music, and a commitment to using his artistic talents to uplift others, while honoring Bishop Manning's musical and spiritual legacy.
