1. After Threats to Shut It Down, Elon Chabad Draws 100 Students (anash.org) — Jewish students at Elon University gathered at a secure off-campus location for a Shabbat dinner after online threats targeted the event and its organizers in Elon. Local police and security quietly protected the gathering, which drew more than 100 students and became a moment of solidarity and renewed Jewish pride. Organizers say it has already boosted interest in upcoming High Holiday services.
2. Sophomore Success connects LSB students with career preparation and Elon community (elon.edu) — Elon business students recently gathered at The Inn at Elon for the Sophomore Success event, sharpening resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and networking skills with parents, faculty, and career advisors. Timed just before Family Weekend, the program emphasized that sophomore year is crucial for internships and recruiting, giving Elon students early practice with interviews, Superday-style sessions, and professional relationship-building.
3. Emma Moesswilde blends seasonal changes into CORE 1100 course (elon.edu) — Students in a first-year Core 1100 class at Elon are using the changing seasons on campus to explore how people experience environmental change and today's climate crisis. Assistant professor Emma Moesswilde holds frequent outdoor discussions that connect falling leaves, campus traditions, and shifting weather to broader historical and global issues. The course also supports Elon's Sustainability Master Plan by weaving climate awareness into everyday academic life.
4. Volleyball Returns Home To Host Stony Brook (elonphoenix.com) — Elon volleyball is back at Schar Center this weekend, hosting Stony Brook in CAA matches Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Local fans can watch standout players like Cameron Lanier chase milestones as the Phoenix look to build on recent wins and improve their conference record right here in Elon.
5. Hanif Abdurraqib says to embrace uncertainty, find meaning in present (elonnewsnetwork.com) — Elon students recently heard author and poet Hanif Abdurraqib speak in Alumni Gym about embracing uncertainty, failure, and the present moment, tied to his Common Reading book.
