β’ 1 killed in crash involving utility truck on N.C. Highway 24 in Cumberland County, NCSHP says (cbs17.com) β A deadly crash on N.C. Highway 24 between Fayetteville and Vander left a car driver dead and the utility truck driver injured, with eastbound lanes still partly closed Monday night. State troopers say the car pulled into the truck's path, sending both vehicles off the road toward trees. The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the Cumberland County wreck.

New this year, organizers are partnering with Cumberland County Animal Shelter to collect pet supplies and promote adoptions, adding a community-service twist to this long-loved Fayetteville tradition.

β’ Mom commissioned 'afterlife' photos with 2-year-old before being charged with her murder (local12.com) β A Fayetteville woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2015 murder of her 2-year-old daughter, a case that began when paramedics rushed the child to Cape Fear Valley Regional Medical Center. Doctors in Fayetteville found extensive signs of physical abuse and non-survivable brain injuries. After an earlier hung jury, a retrial ended with a first-degree murder conviction.
