• United Way of Gaston County celebrates Dolly Parton's literacy legacy as library grows (wbtv.com) — Families in Gastonia and across Gaston County are being reminded how Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, run locally by United Way of Gaston County, is getting free books to more than 2,000 children each month. After Parton's passing, local leaders say the best tribute is keeping the program growing, and they're urging community donations so every child can start kindergarten ready to read.
   

• Armed citizen halts shooting rampage by man who went berserk over vape (bizpacreview.com) — A Chester County, S.C., shooting over a vaping dispute is drawing comparisons to a recent Gastonia case where a homeowner shot a man allegedly trying to break into his home. Gastonia Police later said the wounded man and his girlfriend falsely reported a drive-by shooting, and investigators concluded the homeowner fired once through a window in self-defense.
