• Salisbury man shoots own hand while fleeing GQ officer (salisburypost.com) — A larceny at the Circle K on Summit Drive in Granite Quarry ended with an 18-year-old Salisbury man accidentally shooting his own hand while fleeing a Granite Quarry-Faith officer Sunday evening. Police say three suspects were detained near Rowan Summit Drive, stolen items were recovered, and all reportedly carried concealed firearms, with charges now filed for larceny, resisting an officer, and weapons violations.
• High school football: Falcons, Raiders, Cavaliers, Wonders are winners (salisburypost.com) — East Rowan's homecoming in Granite Quarry ended in a tough 41-14 loss to Northwest Cabarrus, despite a strong passing night from quarterback Julian Cauble and big games by receivers Sam Blackwelder and Jason Bonds. The roundup also highlights wins by South Rowan, North Rowan, West Rowan, Salisbury's opponent Robinson, and A.L. Brown, setting up key conference matchups next week.
