1. Greensboro to open 2026 Neighborhood Traffic Management Program applications (abc45.com) — Greensboro is opening applications today for its 2026 Neighborhood Traffic Management Program, giving local neighborhoods a chance to request traffic circles, speed humps, and other safety improvements on qualifying streets. A recent project on David Caldwell Drive shows big reductions in speeding and traffic, and residents can submit applications through the city's online portal until Oct. 30.
2. Gun Stoppers reward increased for tips about illegal guns in Greensboro, Guilford County (myfox8.com) — Greensboro and Guilford County residents can now receive $500, double the previous amount, for anonymous tips that lead to recovering illegal guns through the Gun Stoppers program. Crime Stoppers and Greensboro police say the higher reward aims to boost community reporting, after already helping seize hundreds of firearms, drugs, and cash since 2017.
3. How North Carolina ranks among the best foodie cities in America: Study (wxii12.com) — Greensboro stands out in a new WalletHub study, ranking 83rd nationally among foodie cities and beating every other North Carolina city for affordability, including very low beer and wine prices. The report compares Greensboro's food scene with Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Winston-Salem, and Fayetteville, giving locals a sense of how their dining options and costs stack up statewide.
4. Greensboro, Winston-Salem selected for Love Your Block initiative (myfox8.com) — Greensboro has been selected for the Love Your Block initiative, bringing $70,000 and a dedicated fellow to support resident-led projects that clean up vacant lots and public spaces. Alongside Winston-Salem, the city will soon invite neighbors to propose beautification and blight-removal ideas that can receive mini-grants, volunteers, and other support to improve local neighborhoods.
5. Camp Hope marks 10 years in Guilford County (wxii12.com) — Camp Hope America: Guilford County is celebrating 10 years of helping local children heal from trauma, with former and current campers sharing how the free one-week program changed their lives. Volunteers, the Family Justice Center director, and memories of Greensboro Police Sgt. Phillip "Dale" Nix underscore how the camp builds confidence, mentorship, and future community leaders across Guilford County.
