“There are significant social, economic, and environmental benefits to promoting parks in our community,” said Matthew Wallace, of Guilford County Parks. “This project is expanding throughout the County to connect more residents and visitors with parks."

Piedmont Discovery allows users to find outdoor amenities like pickleball courts, playgrounds, or dog parks, as well as indoor recreation areas and facilities owned by parks throughout Guilford County. App users can search for parks or trails nearest to them, find directions, and connect with local parks department websites for more details about each location. The app also lets users explore trails based on their difficulty and terrain.

“Millions of people visit the Triad each year — and we want them to know about the great opportunities for recreation across this area and see parts of the County that are off the beaten path,” said David Robinette, Pleasant Garden Parks Recreation and Facilities Director.

The public is invited to attend a presentation recognizing the new partners October 1 at 10 am at the Gateway Gardens Visitor Center, 2800 East Gate City Blvd. The presentation will include an app demonstration.

The app was a joint project launched in 2019 between Greensboro, High Point, and Guilford County Parks & Recreation and Information Technology Departments.
