Man receives life sentence for 2023 Greenville murder involving body in trash can (witn.com) — A man has been sentenced in Greenville to life in prison, plus additional years, for a 2023 killing where a victim's body was found in a trash can near Tyson and Battle Street. Jurors rejected his self-defense claim after evidence and an autopsy contradicted his story, and his habitual felon status increased the punishment.

Pitt County man sentenced to prison for possessing a firearm as a felon (wnct.com) — A Pitt County man was sentenced in Greenville to more than six years in prison after a jury found him guilty of possessing a gun as a convicted felon. Prosecutors said he was caught with a .22-caliber revolver during a 2024 traffic stop and was classified as a habitual felon because of multiple prior felony convictions, including second-degree murder.
   

3. WARRANT: Greenville teen found with weapons, making violent threats at Harnett County educational facility (witn.com) — A 19-year-old Greenville resident was arrested in Harnett County after warrants alleged he brought a shotgun, ammunition, and explosive devices to an educational facility and threatened to kill people on campus. Records list his home address in Greenville, and investigators are still confirming which school was involved and whether he is a student there.
